An increasing number of law enforcement, public safety and emergency call centers are now offering voluntary registration for individuals affected by autism and related conditions, especially for those at risk of escapism and dangerous wandering. For those that participate, person-specific can be accessed quickly via mobile computer or dispatch.
Ottawa Police Service and San Diego County Sheriff’s Department offer two fine examples of registry programs currently in use.
